Target X Vital Voices Limited Collection

Red alert (literally)! Target has a new collaboration out in stores right now. The Target X Vital Voices collection has become one of my new favorite things.

If you all didn’t know, I studied social work in college. In fact, I recently graduated with a masters in social work. I have a passion for people who don’t have the same opportunities I had and seek to make those opportunities available to all people. There’s something that hurts my heart when I see people struggling to make ends meet when they have the skills and talent to do something amazing, but don’t have the means to get there.

One thing I love seeing is when for-profit companies partner with non-profit organizations to promote what the non-profit is doing. If you’ve ever worked for or with a not-for-profit organization, you’ll quickly recognize that their main sources of funding come from grants (either public from the government, or private from private foundations) and independent donors. Without one, the other funding source becomes all the more important. Visibility and awareness for non-profits are so important because it opens the door for new potential donors. So when I learned about Target’s collaboration with one of their grant recipient, Vital Voices, I was ecstatic!

You obviously know and love Target, so here’s a little information about Vital Voices Global Partnership. According to the website, Vital Voices’ mission “is to identify, invest and bring visibility to extraordinary women around the world by unleashing their leadership potential to transform lives and accelerate peace and prosperity in their communities.” Basically, they empower women around the world to combat the exploitation of women and children. They help women become change agents within their governments and equip them with the business and communications skills to provide for their families.

As I mentioned in my guide to shopping ethically, there are times where it’s hard to purchase from ethical sources due to availability of products and how much money you have in your budget. When companies see the value in partnering with and supporting not-for-profit organizations, it makes me more likely to spend there. Which is why I bought several pieces from the Target X Vital Voices collection at my local store.

The collection at Target is in partnership with the in-house brand, A New Day. It features some awesome new pieces that would go well in your own capsule wardrobe. Like the rest of the A New Day brand, they offer these products in all sizes! Yay inclusivity!
