It’s raining in Houston today, and although there’s nothing I want more than to be curled up in bed, I have to be at my internship for school. So, I put on some of my go-to threads for rainy day style, drove in town, and got to work.
I can be pretty obsessed with certain brands when I find things I love from the brand. I’ve been loyal to Madewell and J.Crew for years, but once I discovered Everlane, I’ve been hooked. Everlane is an ethical clothing company with chic, modern clothing, and this trench coat is the perfect fit for rainy day style. It’s lightweight, comfortable, and will definitely help in keeping me dry.
For shoes, it really depends on how much walking I do. At my internship, we have covered parking, so there’s no need for full on rainboots. If I were having to walk, I would go with my rain boots, but it has to be pouring. Let me give you reference on how often I wear them. The last time I wore my rain boots was during Hurricane Harvey, and it’s rained in Houston since.
The shoes I’m wearing here are actually the first item I purchased from Everlane. The Modern Babo has been one of the most interesting and most complimented additions to my wardrobe. These shoes obviously began my obsession with Everlane. They can be worn with the back of the shoe up or down, making them go from a chic flat shoe to mules. I’m wearing them as Mules here.
The tote I have here is, hands down, my favorite tote. I got it from Nisolo, a brand in Nashville that sources ethical textiles for their products. Although this exact bag isn’t sold anymore, the Lori tote is similar. This bag is the same price as the Transport Tote from Madewell, just ethically made. I use this bag on a regular basis, great for school and work.
My ultimate goal for rainy day style boils down to three things. Easy to wear, comfortable, and stylish. For me, this outfit checks all three of those boxes and helps me tackle my day with style and functionality.
