I’m an HGTV addict, y’all. If I could just decorate and fix up houses all day, everyday, I would. But as a college student, I’m forced to just watch the professionals do it on TV. And when HGTV struck a deal with Chip and Joanna Gaines of Magnolia Market in Waco, Texas to create Fixer Upper, I became hooked.
I’m from Texas. In fact, my grandparents live just outside of Waco, so for me, it’s really cool to see what this couple has been doing for the city of Waco. What was originally a run-down, ratty, old town has begun the process of being revitalized. While I think part of it is from Baylor University, I know that most of it has been from the Gaines fixing up these old houses, giving life back to the city of Waco.
This weekend, as I was heading home to Houston, I stopped in Waco to see the grandparents, and of course, stop by the Silos, the new store-front of Magnolia Market which will open at the end of the month. It seems like all that fans of the show have been doing lately is waiting; waiting for the store to open, waiting for the new season of Fixer Upper… So I thought I would share 5 of my favorite designs from HGTV’s Fixer Upper.
Coffee shop owner’s living room
If you’ve ever been to Waco, or have friends in Waco, you’ve heard of Common Grounds, an eclectic coffee shop right off Baylor’s campus. Not only am I envious of their ability to brew a perfect cup of coffee, I’m also envious of their beautiful living room. After this fireplace was accidentally unearthed, it turned into one of the greatest design “mistakes” ever!
The exterior of this home is literally my dream. From the brick walkway to the beautiful dutch door (a door that is divided horizontally, so that while the bottom half remains closed, the top half is open), I am completely obsessed. Gimme those black shutters, please!
Mid-Century Modern Coffee Nook
Don’t we all wish we had a coffee nook overlooking what appears to be a forest? When I first saw this episode, I wasn’t sure I was going to like the house. I’m not much of a modern fan, so I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did. This modern home has a rustic, vintage flair, and this coffee nook shows it. I love the bar stools, and honestly, this little nook is perfect for inspiration!
A Quaint Black + White Kitchen
This kitchen literally has everything I want in it. I love the black subway tiles and beautiful marble counter tops. It even has a skylight for extra light! What I wouldn’t give for double wall ovens. This is seriously the perfect entertainer’s kitchen, and I wants one. Bad.
I already showed you the exterior of this home, but can we please take a separate moment to ooh and ah over this beautiful laundry room? I mean, really. Who wouldn’t want a laundry room that has all this space and looks beautiful too? One day, Courtney… One day.
Are any of you addicted to HGTV? What’s your favorite show?
